Design and Installation

Challenge:

With its main campus located in Avon Park, South Florida Community College (SFCC) serves approximately 19,000 students every year. As SFCC is constantly striving to make their classrooms better for students and faculty alike, the campus has focused on improving communications and interactivity through the use of SMART-equipped presentation systems. For this installation, the president and vice presidents of SFCC sought the use of enhanced AV systems for their communication efforts. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the leadership could effectively promote the standards, mission and goals of this higher-ed institution.

Solution:

While the boardroom table seats about 14, the room itself has a 50-person capacity. Due to the depth of the area, a 16 x 9 SMART interactive whiteboard allows participants in the back of the room to see presentations better. Highlights of the presentation system also include a ceiling-mounted projector, as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse. A multi-channel recorder and mixing board provide exceptional audio capabilities.

Board members also have the ability to participate in meetings using wireless microphones -- tabletop boundary mics and lapel mics allow for range of movement. Laptop connections are made available through the use of a long VGA micro cable with audio. As the boardroom table is sectional, it can easily be removed in order to make space for other events. Wireless connections and extended cables provide maximum flexibility, no matter the arrangement.

Finally, the newly-integrated conference room is specifically designated for SFCC's president and vice presidents. Communications are effectively made through the use of a SMART interactive whiteboard, Elmo, wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as a ceiling projector for high-resolution presentations. Systems are established through the use of an OFE floor box connection to the 16-person table.
