Ave Maria University and Oratory
Ave Maria University and Oratory, Ave Maria, FL
Challenge:
As one of the first Roman Catholic universities established in the U.S. in over 40 years, there lies a tremendous amount of significance in the foundation of Ave Maria University (AMU), along with the planning and development of Ave Maria Oratory. Both the University and Oratory required AV systems that could seamlessly blend within the impressive architecture of both structures. Installation environments includes classrooms, training rooms, lecture halls and dining areas, with the added benefit of digital signage technology and a state-of-the-art network operations center (NOC).
Solution:
Audio/video systems enhance 15 classrooms and training rooms throughout AMU, in addition to a large lecture hall, private and campus dining rooms and a multi-purpose room. Adding clarity and efficiency to presentations, classrooms are equipped with ceiling mounted 3200 lumen XGA LCD projectors. Located at the rear of the large lecture hall, a wall mounted 5500 lumen XGA LCD projector is equipped with a long throw lens. The environment is also enhanced by two wall mounted speakers to deliver the audio. No matter their location, participants are ensured quality sound through the use of wireless handheld and lavalier microphones.
The Network Operations Center (NOC) is the centerpiece of technology for the University, allowing operators to monitor their campus wide systems including AV, life safety, fire, security, data, HVAC and water systems. The system includes a Clarity 67" XGA 2x2 cube array, which is capable of being monitored on the Web from remote locations. Cable TV channels, along with Ave Maria's own channels, are distributed throughout the campus. VBrick digital broadcast/streaming and storage equipment allows for capturing, recording and distributing programming via the network.
With careful planning and execution, the Oratory's sound system ensures the crisp delivery of presentations from the priest and choir, ensuring a high-quality acoustical experience for its worshipers. In integrating the audio solution for the Oratory, steerable line array column speakers are located at the front of the space, with delay speakers positioned under the balcony for speech reinforcement. Separate program audio speakers face the front from above the balcony, providing reinforcement of the choir and organ.
