Clark Advanced Learning Center (CALC)
Martin County School District, Stuart, FL
Challenge:
The Clark Advanced Learning Center (CALC) is a national model school formed through a collaboration between Indian River Community College and the Martin County School District. CALC serves as an innovative high school and college facility that operates as a high school during the day and offers college courses during the evening and weekends.
Technology at CALC is incorporated into every aspect of teaching and learning. To succeed in the 21st century, the leadership of CALC sought to incorporate sophisticated technology skills into their academic and employment careers. This project required systems to support personalized and interactive instruction.
Solution:
The 34,000 square foot facility has 12 classrooms and labs encircling a central "Knowledge Room," which serves multiple functions. Electronic classrooms accommodate up to 35 participants, and can function independently of the Knowledge Center, or even in conjunction as overflow. The screens and projectors are specifically chosen for the function and size of these rooms. The heart of the display system in the electronic classroom is a ceiling mounted 1024 x 768 Epson LCD projector with 2300 ANSI lumens and a 72" diagonal wall mount Smart Board. With such an advanced line of educational tools that include interactive whiteboards, projectors, document cameras and more, students and teachers at CALC are ensured an effective educational environment.
Equipment Highlights:
