Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw Conference Rooms and Mock Courtroom

Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw LLP, Chicago, IL

Design and Installation

Challenge:

Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw is one of the world's largest law practices, with more than 1,400 attorneys offices in seven U.S cities and six European cities. Previously relying on basic AV systems to communicate with clients and employees, the firm wanted their new office in Chicago, IL to provide more sophisticated methods for long-distance communication and presentations.

Solution:

The new law office consists of 33 meeting rooms, eight of which have integrated collaborative communication systems. The rest of the meeting rooms utilize portable systems as needed. In the largest conference rooms, Crestron control systems were programmed and installed, allowing for easy use of all conference room devices. NEC 3400 lumen video/data projectors and automatic voice reinforcement equipment also added to the quality of communications. Additionally, a top-of-the-line Tandberg videoconferencing codec was integrated into a centralized control room so that it can be accessed from any of the collaborative rooms.

The Town Hall is a versatile room that can be separated by moveable walls to form three separate rooms. Similar to the firm's large conference rooms, a Crestron control system with three tabletop touch panels was installed, as well as a compact lectern/wall-mounted AV touch panel. Four 5000 lumen, ceiling mounted Panasonic projectors provide high-resolution viewing for videoconferencing and presentation images. Two 60" LG plasma displays and 21 Atlas Sound ceiling speakers for installed for voice reinforcement.

The mock courtroom incorporates three LG 60" plasma displays, which are located at the front of the room for easy viewing from the judicial bench/witness stand, attorneys' tables, and jury box. The courtroom is also outfitted with Shure microphones and 11 Atlas Sound ceiling speakers to increase audio clarity, as well as a Tandberg videoconferencing codec to further enhance communications. The mock courtroom's technology is managed by a Crestron control system and includes a wall-mounted touch panel with AV pushbuttons for use at the lectern. Additionally, the defense and prosecution tables are equipped with Crestron touch panels. All proceedings can be recorded by three strategically placed cameras.
