Hard Rock Live Sound System
Hard Rock Live, Orlando, FL
Challenge:
Located on Universal Studios Florida's lively CityWalk and adjacent to the popular Hard Rock Cafe restaurant, Hard Rock Live is a 2,400-seat concert venue for showcasing both emerging and internationally acclaimed recording artists. The audio systems needed to be as versatile as possible to satisfy a variety of uses: live shows, taped or televised events, and banquets.
Solution:
A loudspeaker system was designed that was comprised of a left-center-right configuration, over and under-balcony loudspeakers, and a separate speaker system for the VIP seating area. To accommodate the facility's hydraulic stage, speakers were installed in the stage lip as well as in the stage to provide full speaker coverage when the thrust is down. Subwoofers are installed under the stage. Left and right speaker cluster configurations were incorporated, with amplification by Crest.
In addition to these enhancements, a Yamaha console is used at the front of house, combined with Yamaha and Lexicon digital effects processors. The on-stage monitor system is comprised of floor monitors, subwoofers, and sidefills. A Yamaha console is also used for this system.
Observers will find that the stage monitoring system is very sophisticated because it has the ability to do a number of mixes, and everything is packaged so that it can be quickly disconnected and stored. It is easy for a touring act to come in and use parts of the stage monitor system if they wanted to, or bring their own console. Processing for the entire system is achieved through a Peavey MediaMatrix.
